Young Lions Jazz feat. Mitchell Faber

The South Jersey Jazz Society is pleased to announce the return of the “Young Lions of Jazz!” series.
 
This series will feature young jazz musicians from South Jersey presenting an entertaining and enlightening performance and interview. We will learn how these young artists became interested and involved in jazz, and what their hopes and dreams are going forward. 
 
Come join us on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at 2PM at Gregory’s Restaurant & Bar for this performance and interview with our featured artist, guitarist Mitchell Faber. Mitchell is a lifelong resident of Atlantic County, living in Egg Harbor Township. After attending Chartertech High School For The Performing Arts in Somers Point, he went on to pursue a music degree at University of the Arts.
 
This is a free event. Reservations recommended. Gregory’s delicious lunch and drink menu will be available. We ask you to please give a generous free will donation so we may continue to present jazz music to our South Jersey community. 

About Mitchell Faber:

Mitchell Faber is a lifelong resident of Atlantic County, living in Egg Harbor Township.Mitchell took to music very early when he started humming the classical tunes from CDs he heard in the car. At 4 years old, Mitchell started singing lessons at Orchard Studios in EggHarbor Township.

At 6 years old, Mitchell received his first guitar as a birthday gift. He started with finger notes, but almost immediately moved to musical notation. At Miller Elementary School,Mitchell took violin and percussion. At Fernwood Middle School, Mitchell was on the drumline, wind ensemble and violin. Privately, Mitchell continued his lessons with Dr. MayStrange for violin and Alan Kinsey for percussion. Mitchell was an All South Jersey percussion competition winner, and All South Jersey violin competition winner.

For high school, Mitchell decided to attend Chartertech High School For ThePerforming Arts in Somers Point, New Jersey. At Charter Tech, Mitchell had guidance from Lew London and his music teacher Don Wittenwiler. During high school, Mitchell placed in theAll South Jersey Percussion competition and placed twice in the All South Jersey jazz guitar competition. During high school, Mitchell finally convinced South Jersey Jazz Society member Frank Coffman to help him with his lessons.

For college, Mitchell selected University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After college, Mitchell intends to get his masters in music. In addition to jazz studies, Mitchell has a diverse interest in other music such as pop and rap. Mitchell loves being in front of an audience. On the summer nights, you can find him on the boardwalk in Ocean City playing his guitar.

The South Jersey Jazz Society is looking for young jazz musicians to participate in our “YOUNG LIONS of JAZZ” series.

A one hour performance/interview presentation that will showcase the next generation of jazz giants in South Jersey. If you are a young and talented jazz player or vocalist, or a teacher of a student that would like to participate, please contact us. We’d love to feature you in this dynamic series.
