Jason Long is a Philadelphia native and a 32 year professional musician, arranger and music educator in the Philadelphia/New York/Washington DC area. In 1997, he received a B.A. Degree in Music Performance from the University of the Arts, Philadelphia PA. Jason has performed and recorded with numerous local and national acts during the past 30 years as both a pianist and a bassist, including Bobby Caldwell, Wayne Newton, Janis Siegel, Arturo Sandoval, Debbie Gibson, Brian Bromberg, Will Lee and Andrew Neu, among many others. Since twelve years of age, Jason has performed over 8,000 professional musical performances in both public and private venues. Jason is among the most working and in demand musicians in the Philadelphia area. He enjoys staying busy primarily as a jazz musician, although he performs many different genres of music five nights a week.
Lee Smith’s professional career as a bassist started fifty years ago touring and recording with several Phila. based R+B legends including the Delphonics, Blue Magic, and Billy Paul. Lee moved to N.Y.C. and spent five years touring with Afro-Cuban percussionist Mongo Santamaria. He appears on five of Mongo’s albums includ- ing the Grammy award winning ” Amanecer”. Lee has worked with numerous jazz legends including Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Fortune, Benny Golson, and Odean Pope. Lee is a current member of the Jazz Orchestra of Phila. under the direction of Terell Stafford. Lee’s music history is included in “Phila. Jazz Bridge’s” Jazz Legends Archives. He has written, arranged, and produced three of his own cds, “Sittin” on a Secret”,” My Kind of Blues”,and “Faith in the New Day”, all receiving critical acclaim. Lee is also the proud father of bass great Christian McBride.
John Guida’s career began when he played on the Steel Pier while still in high school. Later he toured the country with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra and then returned to the Atlantic City music scene where he played at the 500 Club, Club Harlem, and with the Ice Capades Orchestra. John was a charter member of the Si Zentner Orchestra at Resorts International, the first casino to open in New Jersey. He has also played with other big bands including Harry James, Mercer Ellington, Ray Anthony, and Billy May.
John has performed with many of the musical legends of our time, including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, Ella Fitzgerald, Rosemary Clooney, Mel Torme, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Diane Carrol, Nancy Wilson, Harry Connick, Jr., Natalie Cole, The Temptations, Lady Gaga, and many others. He appeared at the Cancun Jazz Festival, The Clifford Brown Jazz Festival, and often plays at the Cape May and Somers Point Jazz Festivals.
Over the years, John has been fortunate to play with some of the “Jazz Greats,” such as Roy Eldridge, Teddy Wilson, Louie Bellson, Charlie Shavers, Zoot Sims, and Jack Sheldon. He has played many musicals in Philadelphia theaters, including Crazy For You, City of Angels, Damn Yankees, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and Bye, Bye Birdie.
