Jazz & Blues Showcase: The Tardo Hammer Piano Trio

New York native and world-class jazz pianist TARDO HAMMER is the featured artist on SUNDAY, MAY 3rd in our series’ third spring program. He’ll showcase a long-standing staple in jazz, the piano trio. Veteran jazzmen bassist LEE HUDSON and drummer KEITH BALLA complete his trio.

Hammer has achieved worldwide recognition as a soloist, sought-after sideman and recording artist in a distinguished career that began in the late 1970s. He’s performed with countless jazz artists across the U.S., Europe and Japan, including Lionel Hampton, Lou Donaldson, Junior Cook, Bill Hardman, Al Cohn, and Mel Lewis, along with vocalists Abby Lincoln, Annie Ross, Chris Connor, and Jon Hendricks. 

In addition to performing and recording, Hammer continues working as an educator teaching jazz piano and improvisation privately at The New School and the Lucy Moses School.
