All the things you wanted to know about the jazz organ but were too afraid to ask!

“All the things you wanted to know about the jazz organ but were too afraid to ask”  Not really but this special Thursday evening event will give you some sense of the importance of the jazz organ in the development of modern jazz.

On September 12thfrom 7 until 8 p.m. in the “Whiskey Room” of Josie Kelly’s Public House, 908 Shore Road, Somers Point, NJ. Michael Pedicin will lead an informal discussion about the Hammond B3’s beginning, and how it became such an important instrument in the true American Art form…..Jazz.

The discussion will explore the histories of the musicians who chose the organ as their way of expressing themselves, as well as the interesting path it took from Philadelphia, Atlantic City, and then the rest of the world.

The jazz organ will be the theme of our upcoming OceanFirst Bank Foundation Jazz@the Point Festival that will be held locally from October 10-13.  Those in attendance for this education presentation will be given the opportunity to purchase Festival tickets at a discounted rate.

A full menu and cash bar will be available.  If you plan on dinning please arrive at least 45 minutes in advance.

Admission is free.
