DESCRIPTION:E Shawn Qaissaunee (kay-saw’-nee) is a highly regarded multi-instrumentalist\, educator\, and composer with over three decades of experience in his field. Jacob plays in Rodney Green’s Jackson Miller Trio\, the Chris Byars Octet\, the Richard Cortez Band\, and is a regular member of Erena Terakubo’s Sextet. He has also shared the stage with Ken Peplowski\, the John Pizzarelli Big Band\, Peter Washington\, the Mingus Big Band\, Pasquale Grasso\, Ari Roland\, and Joe Farnsworth. Jacob has performed twice at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington D.C.\, first in 2023 with the prestigious Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program and most recently with vibraphonist Chuck Redd in 2024. At 19\, he heard Toots Thielemans play harmonica\, which totally changed his musical life. His career has taken him from Brazil to Germany\, then throughout the European continent where he became a pivotal force on the studio and jazz scene\, performing\, composing\, recording\, and touring extensively with his own ensembles as well as with visiting legends Harry Sweets Edison and Buddy Tate. In 1989\, he returned to Brazil to record his first album as a leader\, “Samba Importado”. In 1992\, a trip to California led to his signing with the Concord label\, and the resulting six recordings established him as the first major new voice on the harmonica since Toots Thielemans and as a vibes player in the mainstream tradition. He moved to New York in 1992 where he has lived ever since. His 30 CDs have received rave reviews and strong airplay\, and established his immediately recognizable style of Brazilian Jazz. In 2014 he won the Brazilian International Press Award. Critics and the jazz listening public alike have recognized Meurkens’ incredible talent\, listing him repeatedly in the Downbeat and Jazziz Polls. Meurkens has recorded and performed with Ray Brown\, Paquito D’Rivera\, Oscar Castro-Neves\, Herb Ellis\, Herbie Mann\, James Moody\, Charlie Byrd\, Jimmy Cobb\, Ivan Lins\, Monty Alexander\, Manfredo Fest\, Herb Ellis\, Dori Caymmi\, Toninho Horta\, Harry ‘Sweets’ Edison\, Buddy Tate\, Joyce\, Astrud Gilberto\, Roberto Menescal\, Antonio Adolfo\, Emilio Santiago\, and many others.  \nJoe Fitzgerald\nBassist Joe Fitzgerald is an ac2ve member of the New York music community with more than three decades of experience including recordings and performances in most of the major concert halls and jazz fes2vals throughout the world. Joe has performed with many luminaries from the jazz world including Lee Konitz\, Frank Kimbrough\, Frank Wess\, Alan Dawson\, Bruce Barth\, Donald Brown\, Datevik Hovanesian\, Pat Metheny\, Hendrik Meurkens\, John Bunch and many others. Joe has also has a long career as an educator and is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music.  \nMisha Tsiganov \nBorn in St. Petersburg\, Russia\, Misha Tsiganov began to play piano at the age of six and graduated from Mussorgsky College of Music. In 1990 Misha received prize-winner-diploma of the All-Russia Jazz Competition. He moved to the USA in 1991\, to study at the Berklee College of Music. Misha is the featured pianist on the Bill Cosby television cartoon Little Bill\, where Misha worked 1999-2002. Misha has performed and recorded with such musicians as Clark Terry\, Michael Brecker\, Randy Brecker\, Joe Chambers\, Gary Bartz\, Dave Valentin\, Chico Freeman\, Claudio Roditi\, John Faddis\, Richie Cole\, Bobby Watson\, Victor Lewis\, Joe Lock\, Norman Hedman\, Johnny Colon\, Papo Pepin\, Ray Vega\, Bobby Porcelly\, Antonio Sanchez\, Graig Handy\, John Benitez\, Donny McCaslin\, Bobby Sanabria\, Gene Jackson and others.  \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				Non Members $20.00SJ Jazz Members $15.00SJ Jazz Patron Members $10.00 \nReservations can be made by Jazz Society Patron Members Only by calling 609-289-0326. Stravelli headlined the 2023 cayman arts festival on Grand Cayman Island and the 2023 Delaware water gap COTA Jazz festival. In 2022 she sold out Birdland’s main room with the New York debut of “Mel & Ella Swing!”\, her new show with pianist/singer Billy Stritch. \nShe has toured the United States with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and has toured internationally with the “American Music Abroad” (AMA) program\, performing and teaching throughout Southeast Asia\, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. She headlined the 2021 and 2018 Jazz on the Mountain Festival at the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz\, NY and has appeared at the 2019 Kota Kinabalu Music and Dance Festival in Malaysia\, the 2016 Eleuthera All That Jazz Festival in the Bahamas\, the 2013 Maree Sonore Festival in Venice and the 2013 Kastav Cultural in Croatia. \nPatrick O’Leary \nPatrick O’Leary\,. has toured the U.S.\, Canada\, Europe\, South America\, Australia\, and Japan with the Lionel Hampton Orchestra. Also with Hampton\, he recorded the Grammy-nominated Sentimental Journey (Atlantic). O’Leary has recorded with J.R. Monterose\, Mundell Lowe\, Mel Lewis\, Bucky Pizzarelli\, Jerry Bergozi\, and Scott Robinson. Other artists with whom O’Leary has played include Diana Krall\, James Moody\, Junior Cook\, Lee Konitz\, Joe Lovano\, Barry Harris\, Junior Mance\, Joe Williams\, and Marlena Shaw. He regularly appears at The Blue Note\, The Village Vanguard\, Bradley’s\, Fat Tuesdays\, The Iridium\, and has recently performed at the Kennedy Center\, Lincoln Center\, and Carnegie Hall. \nJoshua Richman \nJoshua Richman is a two-time winner oftheASCAPFoundation Young Jazz Composer Award.
