SUMMARY:Jazz & Blues Showcase feat. Joe Magnarelli
DESCRIPTION:Our third spring show on Sunday\, May 21st features an all-star quartet led by internationally renowned trumpeter JOE MAGNARELLI.  Award-winning baritone saxophonist FRANK BASILE adds a second horn to his ensemble\, while jazz organ giant PAT BIANCHI\, the late guitar legend Pat Martino’s organist of choice\, and standout drummer BYRON LANDHAM complete the group. \nSyracuse native Magnarelli’s artistry has delighted audiences across the U.S. and abroad for more than three decades.  He’s received awards from the Thelonious Monk International Trumpet Competition and from Downbeat magazine\, with Downbeat also naming him as “one of the top five\, over 30 post bebop trumpet players today.”  He’s performed with a host of jazz elites in his career.  Among them are Rosemary Clooney\, Lionel Hampton\, Buddy Rich\, Ray Barretto\, John Pizzarelli and Harry Connick\, Jr. He also continues to record frequently. His 2022 “New York Osaka Junction” is his latest CD.

SUMMARY:Jazz & Blues Showcase feat. James Austin\, Jr.
DESCRIPTION:James Austin\, Jr.\, a Chicago native and jazz piano phenom\, headlines our series’ second spring show on Sunday\, April 16th at the Cunningham Piano store\, our venue in Cherry Hill\, NJ.  His quartet includes well-known jazz artists: Charlie Sigler on guitar\, Ben Rubens\, bass\, and drummer Byron Landham. \nAustin’s professional career started with an award-winning performance at the Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition in 2005.  Since then his growing resume shows performances with many jazz notables\, including guitarist Peter Bernstein\, Rusell Malone and Bobby Broom\, horn players Frank Morgan and Joe Magnarelli and drummers Winard Harper and Willie Jones.  Austin is also a celebrated arranger\, and his album “Songs in the Key of Wonder” made great jazz of several Stevie Wonder tunes.
