This year’s South Jersey Jazz Society Bob Simon Scholarship Award will go to Ricky Roehm.

Ricky, who is a trombonist, is currently a sophomore at Mainland Regional High School. He is the second chair in the Mainland Jazz Express.

The scholarship is designed to allow the selected jazz student to work one on one with a professional jazz educator.

A presentation of this scholarship will take place at 7:00 p.m. at Sandi Pointe Coastal Bistro, 908 Shore Road, Somers Point, NJ on June 1 prior to the monthly performance of the Ed Vezinho/Jim Ward Big Band. Ricky will be one of the guest performers that evening.

This scholarship is named in honor of Bob Simon a long time supporter of the arts, and specifically jazz in southern New Jersey
