Enjoy the Latin rhythms of the Edgardo Cintron Azuca Band along with a sampling of Latin wines at a special Jazz & Wine event co-hosted by the South Jersey Jazz Society and Beth Israel, at Beth Israel, 2501 Shore Road, Northfield, N.J., on Saturday, April 2, 2016 from 8 to 10:30 p.m. The evening is a fundraiser for both organizations.
The event begins with a social hour where guests will enjoy a glass of Cava (Spanish champagne). At 8:30 p.m., Aaron Tasoff of Joe Canal’s Discount Liquor Outlet in Egg Harbor Twp. will introduce a selection of Latin wines for guests to sample. Tasoff will provide a brief presentation on each wine. There will also be cheese, fruit and dessert.
At 9 p.m., guests will enjoy a jazz concert by the Edgardo Cintron Azuca Band, a 15-piece Latin Jazz ensemble featuring musicians from around the globe who boast credits with an impressive list of major recordings from Latin, Jazz, Pop, and R&B. At the helm is legendary jazz percussionist Edgardo Cintron, a second generation Puerto Rican who attributes much of his musical influences to his father, Pablo Cintron, a guitarist in the US military band. Mike Pedicin Jr. on saxophone, JAYAR on vocals, Luis “Tony” Perez on vocals, and Joe “Stretch” Vmson on guitar are just some of the seasoned musicians that help Cintron blend Caribbean Rhythms with dance friendly Latin Jazz, crossover Latin Pop, bilingual salsa, and old-school R&B.
The South Jersey Jazz Society’s mission is to advance and facilitate the promotion, presentation, education and appreciation of America’s unique and diversified art form, jazz, in Somers Point and the surrounding communities of southern New Jersey.
The largest congregation in the area, Beth Israel is a warm and welcoming home to generations of families who play a vital and integral part in synagogue life.
